Newcastle United are in negotiations with a number of potential investors as Mike Ashley attempts to move the club forward.
Ashley revealed in his exclusive interview with Sky Sports News in August that he is keen to hear from any parties interested in either a complete purchase of the club or further investment.
As a result, Newcastle have signed non-disclosure agreements with a number of potential investors, however no deal is close.
Chinese and other international investors have expressed an interest in recent months.
Ashley, who admitted in his interview that he does not have the money to compete with the top clubs in the Premier League, bought Newcastle for £134m 10 years ago.
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his frustration at the limited money he had to spend in the summer transfer window following the club's return to the Premier League at the first attempt after they were relegated in 2015/16.
The Spaniard, speaking ahead of Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at St James' Park on Sunday, insisted he had no problem with Ashley, although he is yet to commit his future to the club by signing a new contract.
