Defender DeAndre Yedlin says Newcastle must come together as a club in order to end their four-game losing streak.

The Magpies were humbled 3-0 by Watford at St James' Park on Saturday, and the fact that they have scored just one goal in the process is a major concern for manager Rafael Benitez.

They head to managerless West Brom on Tuesday evening knowing the alarm bells will be ringing in earnest if their losing run extends to five games.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez says his side must stick together and work harder after a 3-0 defeat to Watford

Yedlin insists only the sense of togetherness which lifted Newcastle out of the Sky Bet Championship last season will stop the rot.

"We have to stay together, not just as a team but as a club, the fans as well," he said.

"That's what this whole club is built on. We have to make sure we stick together during this rough patch and come through it.

"We are just trying to stay positive. It's very hard to after a performance like that, but it's what you have to do. We are going to have drops like this, so you have to try to stay positive and bounce back.

"We have a game on Tuesday, so in that sense we can try to move on quickly."

Yedlin had a game to forget at the weekend. He was out of position for Watford's opener scored by Will Hughes, turned into his own net for the Hornets' second, before Andre Gray rounded off the scoring for the visitors.

Charlie Nicholas says Watford were so dominant over Newcastle that they could have won by eight goals

Asked if it was his worst day as a Newcastle player, Yedlin admitted: "It's probably up there.

"I am not going to walk out of here with a smile on my face. As a player if you win 10 in a row and you lose one, or you lose 10 in a row, you are still going to be angry when you lose. It's the nature of the game.

"We are a team, so we are going to take losses as a team and we will have to move forward from this as a team."
