Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has revealed talks on his and the club's future will continue next week, following initial discussions.

Rafa Benitez says he has held initial discussions with Newcastle about his and the club's future, revealing further negotiations are scheduled for next week.

Having surpassed the 40-point mark in the Premier League with four games remaining and the club's safety secured, Benitez will be keen to discuss how he wishes to strengthen his squad for next season.

But the former Liverpool manager, who has a year left on his deal, refused to offer specific detail on the talks.

"We've had conversations and we will have conversations next week," said Benitez, ahead of Saturday's game against West Brom.

"My representatives are speaking with [managing director] Lee Charnley and that's it, but I will not say anything else about that because I want to focus on football and the game."

When asked what the negotiations were focused on, he added: "Everything. But, that is part of the conversation next week and obviously, I'm telling you now because a lot of people want to know, but I will not talk too much about that because we will have another meeting and we will see what's going on."
