Samir Nasri says he wants to end his career at Manchester City despite being dropped from their Champions League squad.

The 28-year-old Frenchman has had his season disrupted by a thigh injury he picked up in October but could return at the end of March.

Nevertheless, impressive young forward Kelechi Iheanacho was drafted into their Champions League squad instead for the knockout stages, which begins with their last-16 clash with Dynamo Kiev.

But Nasri said: "You never know what will happen in football. It would be a pleasure to finish my career at City.

"I have a great relationship with the chairman. It's like one big family. The club is doing everything to be the most dominant in the world.

"We have an ambitious owner who tries to improve the team and facilities every single year."

But he said: "I believe that everything happens for a reason and for me, a lot of things happened at the same time, so I was like, 'OK, cool. I'm not going to be depressed about it.'

"I've got an injury but these things happen so I'm going to work as hard as possible and come back as soon as I can and be there for my team-mates. That's how I approached this.
