Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is to have further tests and scans on his hamstring injury on Tuesday.

The Belgium international came off nine minutes from the end of City's 3-1 win at Swansea on Saturday after he pulled up clutching his hamstring.

Sky sources understand De Bruyne underwent scans on Sunday but these were unable to determine the full extent of the problem and additional investigations will take place as a result.

De Bruyne will miss City's Champions League game at Celtic on Wednesday, but the latest tests will determine how long he will be sidelined for.

After Saturday's game at the Liberty Stadium, City boss Pep Guardiola said: "From the way he reacted, I think it's a muscular injury but I am not a doctor. I don't know how serious it is so we will travel back and then see what the doctor says.

"It's a pity as Kevin is an important player for us. That's why we have to have a big squad as everyone will help us."

Toure's omission from the Champions League squad led his agent Dimitri Seluk to criticise Guardiola and the Spaniard has since said he will not pick the midfielder again unless he receives an apology.

Club captain Vincent Kompany was missing from the training session along with midfielder Fabian Delph.

Kompany suffered a groin injury in last Wednesday's EFL Cup third-round win at Swansea and City are yet to put a date on the defender's potential return, while Delph has not played since August due to a muscle injury.
