Man City boss Pep Guardiola calls for end of Sergio Aguero questions

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has had enough of answering questions about Sergio Aguero.

Aguero has been a prolific goalscorer since arriving at Manchester City in 2011, but his future at the club was called into question when he lost his place to Gabriel Jesus last month.

An injury to Jesus has allowed Aguero back into the starting line-up but questions about the situation are likely to persist.

The Argentina international said earlier this week that, while he welcomed Guardiola's statement that he was still wanted at City, he had yet to receive such reassurances in person.

When the subject was raised at Guardiola's pre-match press conference on Friday, the former Barca boss said: "I spoke 10 times about that, 10 times. You know my opinion.

"I cannot answer every single press conference about Sergio Aguero. He is so happy, I am so happy, we are so happy. Ten times I answer, no more please."

Asked if he felt Aguero should stop commenting to the media himself, Guardiola said: "I was not clear in my answer?"

Manchester City are away at Sunderland on Sunday and defenders Vincent Kompany and Aleksandar Kolarov are back in contention for places in the squad.

Kompany has been very unfortunate with injuries of late and the leg injury which ruled him out of the last three games was the latest in a series of problems.

Guardiola said: "It must not be easy for Vincent.

"What happened was in the training session, it was nothing, it was not serious.

"Yesterday he trained with us, so he is ready to come back. Hopefully he can help us in the last two or three months of the season."

City are unbeaten in eight games and look to be finding form, having slipped out of realistic title contention after an indifferent spell earlier in the season.

They hit five goals in their last two games against Monaco (Champions League) and Huddersfield (FA Cup replay), and Guardiola is pleased with the recent progress.

"Every day my feeling is better," he said.

"Our build-up is better, we create more chances in the last two games, and scored 10 goals. That is what I have to
continue.

"During the season we had some good moments, or not good moments. We are in a good moment now but we have to repeat every game again and again."
