Manchester City have made their fourth summer signing after agreeing a deal for Douglas Luiz with Brazilian club Vasco De Gama.

The 19-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract after having a medical this week.

City are believed to have been tracking the Brazilian since last year. He enhanced his reputation with his performances at the South American U20 Championships in January in Ecuador.

It follows the signings of Bernardo Silva from Monaco, goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica and Kyle Walker from Tottenham in a deal worth more than £50million, which is a world-record fee for a defender.

Txiki Begiristain, City's director of football, said: "We are pleased to welcome Douglas. He is an exciting player with great potential, and everyone here is looking forward to helping him develop his talent and progress in the game."

The club will make a further statement in the coming days on whether Luiz will join the first team squad or be sent out on loan.
