John Stones thinks a 4-1 pre-season win over Real Madrid provides a "good platform" for Manchester City.
Stones was among the scorers as City eased past Real in their International Champions Cup clash in Los Angeles on Thursday morning.
City now face Tottenham on July 29 in Tennessee, before completing pre-season against West Ham in Iceland on August 4.
Reflecting on the win over Real, Stones told Sky Sports News: "We were hungry, we wanted to beat them and it's a good platform to take into the next game.
"It was good to be out there, get 90 minutes under my belt and test myself against the Champions League winners."
The match in Los Angeles was City's second of their pre-season campaign and new signings Danilo and Ederson both featured.
Stones netted the third goal in the 67th minute and said: "I don't get those too often, but it's nice to get off to a good start.
"We have been working in training and it's all coming together, it's still early but to get a good win against a top team like Madrid is all positive."
