Joleon Lescott runs the rule over former Manchester City team-mate Sergio Aguero in a Soccer AM interview

Sergio Aguero is "not the best all-round striker" in the Premier League but he is top when it comes to goalscoring, reckons Joleon Lescott.

The former Manchester City defender lifted the lid on his old team-mate during an interview for Soccer AM and while he admitted the Argentina international might take things easier on the training pitch, he believes his ruthless streak in front of goal makes him key for City's chances of continued success.

Asked if he thought Aguero was the best all-round striker currently in the Premier League, Lescott told Soccer AM's Smithy: "All round, probably not but goalscorer, yes. For City he's the ideal man.

"He's not the greatest of trainers! In terms of effort, he's not the greatest but, like Carlos Tevez, give him a chance or a half-chance and, come game time, it's a goal.

"I hope he'll be at City for the remainder of his career; the more he's there, the more chance City have of winning back-to-back titles. I'm a massive fan."

Aguero has scored 11 goals in 15 starts this season and last month became City's all-time leading goalscorer.
