Manchester City's Vincent Kompany predicted goalscoring contribution before Carabao Cup final

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany admits he foresaw his goalscoring contribution in the 3-0 Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal on Sunday.
Kompany scored City's second at Wembley, between Sergio Aguero and David Silva strikes, as City secured their first trophy of the Pep Guardiola era.
And in what was City's third League Cup triumph in five years, Kompany told Sky Sports that he predicted he would get on the scoresheet.
"I'm going to be honest. Before the game I thought I was going to score, I came close a few times in the game. It's just luck on the day, but maybe a bit of self-belief as well."
Cup glory will feel extra sweet for Kompany, who has repeatedly fought back from injury to feature at the heart of City's defence.
The 31-year-old has started just 10 Premier League games this season due to such setbacks, while groin and knee problems saw the Belgian miss the majority of Guardiola's first campaign last year.
However, having started and steered City to victory over Arsenal, Kompany stressed that the feeling of returning to action makes the months of rehabilitation worthwhile.
"You always have to be ready. I'm training well, I'm supporting the lads when I don't play, and I'm giving everything I have. You get a call-up and you just do the job," Kompany added.
"It was a difficult game, but as much space as there was for Arsenal and ourselves, we did really well. I'm really proud of the team performance. Winning 3-0 at Wembley, it's a massive result against any opponent.
"If I kind of look back on my personal situation, you'd be prepared to put in six months of hard work. Look at Mendy, he's had an ACL and it's worth every minute of hard work to be standing out there. I'm sure the pundits have played enough games in their careers to know that. It's worth every chance you have."
