Manuel Pellegrini refused to comment on speculation regarding the transfer of Kevin De Bruyne at Friday's press conference

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has refused to confirm whether Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is on his way to the club or not.

The former Chelsea player has been consistently linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium and Sky Sports News HQ understands a general agreement is in place between the two clubs over a transfer.

But Pellegrini, facing the media ahead of City's home game with Watford on Saturday, would not be drawn on if or when he was expecting De Bruyne to make the move back to the Premier League.

"You must continue asking because to the answer to the question is the same. I don't talk about rumours," he said.

The Chilean also appeared unimpressed when asked what he thought of Thursday's Champions League draw that saw City pitted against Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

He offered no opinion on which team he thought would cause them most problems in Europe, instead answering 'Watford' when asked the question.

"I think all the groups are difficult and the most difficult team in the group is Watford," he added.

"It is a difficult game because they have played three games in the Premier League and three games they have drawn.

"They have a very good manager and good players and the great mistake we can make is to think that because we have won our last three games, we are going to win the next game.

"We need to play in the same way with the same concentration and intensity. The only way to do it is to just think about Watford, that's why I don't want to answer more questions about the other competitions."

Wilfried Bony will miss the game with the Hornets and Pellegrini confirmed the striker suffered a nasty cut to his leg in training.

"Unfortunately Bony has a cut on his leg of about 6-7cm and he is not able to play tomorrow," said Pellegrini.

"I think he will be ready for the next game after the international break, so maybe (he will be out for) seven to 10 days."
