Manchester City have been boosted ahead of their opening Champions League game after Raheem Sterling and David Silva trained on Monday morning.

Both players missed the Premier League leaders' 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday and are seen as doubts for the home European tie against Juventus.

But each was able to work with Manuel Pellegrini's squad ahead of the game and they could now be in contention to play against last season's beaten finalists.

Sterling, 20, is understood to have a hamstring strain while Silva - one of City's best performers so far this term - suffered an ankle knock on international duty with Spain last week.

Sergio Aguero missed the session after he came off in the first half at Selhurst Park with a knee problem and he will miss Tuesday's game.

He initially tried to continue against Palace before breaking down and it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined for.
