Middlesbrough defender James Husband is likely to miss the rest of pre-season as he prepares to undergo shoulder surgery.
The full-back dislocated his shoulder during Saturday's 6-0 friendly win at York and will have an operation on Monday.
Husband, 22, confirmed he will require a procedure on his Twitter account. It could see him miss the club's entire preparation for the new Premier League season.
"Operation on Monday to sort this shoulder out once and for all," he said.
The young defender spent much of last season's promotion-winning campaign on loan at Fulham and Huddersfield.
Husband did not make an appearance for Aitor Karanka's side in the 2015/16 season and is desperate to force his way into the head coach's plans in the top flight.
