Sky Blues goalkeeper pens short-term loan

Swansea have signed Dimitrios Konstantopoulos on a one-month loan deal from Coventry. The former Greek U21 international is currently out of favour at the Ricoh Arena and has been allowed to seek regular action elsewhere. The Swans moved for the experienced shot-stopper after first-choice keeper Dorus de Vries suffered a depressed cheekbone and broken jaw in Tuesday's game against Queens Park Rangers. Konstantopoulos is now set to battle it out for a place in Roberto Martinez's side with another loanee, 19-year-old Birmingham youngster Artur Krysiak.

Determined

"We are delighted to welcome Dimi on board at the Liberty Stadium," Martinez told the club's official website. "He has been part of the British game for a number of years and at 29 is in the best stage of his career. "He is hungry for success and is determined to achieve his goal of playing for the Greek national senior side. Hopefully we can help him achieve that goal. "In the meantime, he will be a great addition to our squad."
Support
Konstantopoulos, who began his career in England with Hartlepool and spent a brief spell on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, is delighted to have joined such an ambitious club. "It's a great opportunity for me. I've played at the Liberty Stadium a few times and really enjoyed it," he said. "The stadium is first class and, from what I can remember, the support is superb. It's a big club; a good club. "I've been out injured for a spell (with an Achilles problem), but I'm back fully fit and looking forward to challenging for a first-team place."
