Fulham have confirmed the signing of Marcelo Djalo on a three-year deal plus option despite reservations from coaching staff.

Sky Sports News HQ reported earlier this week that the Whites' statistical analysis department were pressing ahead with the move despite warnings that he would not be a worthwhile signing.

Djalo has been playing Spain's lower divisions, most recently with Club Deportivo Lugo, and joins for a nominal, undisclosed fee on a deal that could stretch to 2021.

And he said: "The truth is, for me it is a proud moment. It's a big club, an emblem of the city, and for me it's a proud moment.

"Quite simply, I want to be here, I want to work here, I want to grow as a person and a footballer at this great club."

Barcelona-born Djalo has spent his entire career so far in Spain's lower divisions, firstly with Catalonian side Badalona and then Granada's B team.

He was signed by Juventus in 2014 but never made a first-team appearance, instead being loaned back to Granada B, then Girona and Murcia before signing permanently for Lugo last summer.
