Sheffield United are close to signing Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard in a deal worth £700,000, Sky Sports News understands.
The 25-year-old is due to travel to South Yorkshire this evening for a medical and to discuss personal terms ahead of signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The Championship club have lodged numerous bids over the last 12 months for Leonard, who is out of contract in the summer.
Leonard joined Southend from Plymouth in 2011 and has made over 250 appearances for the club.
Leonard become a fan favourite in that time, winning the Supporters' Player of the Season Award three times; 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2016/17.
