Charlton have confirmed Lee Bowyer will remain in caretaker charge for the rest of the season while two parties continue takeover talks.
Bowyer has taken charge of Charlton for the last three games after Karl Robinson left the club and went on to join their League One rivals Oxford United.
His impact has been immediate, with the Addicks winning all three of those matches to move back into the play-off places with seven games remaining.
Owner Roland Duchatelet is currently in talks with two groups interested in a takeover of the club but, with a series of vital matches to come, Charlton have acted to provide the squad with a modicum of stability for the rest of the campaign.
Maintaining Bowyer's position, along with that of assistant Johnnie Jackson, has also been made one of the conditions should any sale be completed before the end of the season.
Director Richard Murray said: "Lee has done a fantastic job since taking charge and the results demonstrate the players have really responded to him.
"You can also hear the relationship he, along with Johnnie, have with Charlton fans from the reaction they get on a matchday.
"The takeover hasn't moved as quickly as we had envisaged and it was important for those players and fans to know that whatever happens there will be stability.
"At this stage, there are still two parties looking to purchase the club and everything is close but a date for a takeover is not something I am able to put a timeline on because, as we have seen, these things can take longer than expected."
Bowyer added: "I'm pleased that I have been given until the end of the season but the focus does not change. We want to make the play-offs and I believe we will.
"I have been really pleased with the lads. They have done everything I have asked of them since I've come in."
