Pringle was crocked by a horror challenge from Stockport County defender Dave Challinor in Grimsby Town's 3-1 success at Blundell Park on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old was only on loan with The Mariners from Charlton Athletic in a bid to taste first team action after recently returning from a prolonged period out of the game.
It was Pringle's second appearance for the First Division strugglers and the violent tackle by Challinor left the experienced marksman with a broken tibia and fibula.
His Addicks team-mate, and compatriot, Matthias Svensson revealed Pringle was trying to remain in an optimistic mood.
"It was a real quick call. Martin believed it was a leg fracture," Svensson told Sportbladet.
"He seemed quite calm. We have been in the same situation, injured for a long period, and we talked about keeping a good mood."
The injury occurred early into the second half and even Stockport boss Carlton Palmer was fuming at the challenge made by Challinor, who escaped with just a yellow card.
Palmer, who labelled the tackle 'disgraceful' and will fine Challinor two weeks wages, said: "I brought him in to defend, not to break players' legs."
