The controversial red card issued to West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace has been overturned by the FA.

The club's appeal of wrongful dismissal was upheld so Kouyate will not serve a three-match suspension and will be available for Saturday's London derby against Arsenal.

Kouyate was given a straight red card by Mark Clattenburg in the 67th minute of Saturday's game for a sliding challenge on Palace forward Dwight Gayle.

West Ham were leading 2-1 at the time but Gayle equalised for Palace eight minutes later and the Hammers dropped two valuable points in their quest for a top-four finish.

After the game, West Ham co-chairman David Gold tweeted: "Disappointing decision by Mark Clattenburg to red card Kouyate which we will be appealing. We must give referees more TV replay help."
