West Ham suffered a heavy defeat on their pre-season tour of the United States, losing 3-0 to MLS side Seattle Sounders on Tuesday evening.

Jordan Morris netted twice after coming on as a second-half substitute, while Herculez Gomez scored from the penalty spot a few minutes before the break.

The Sounders opened the scoring on 42 minutes when visiting goalkeeper Adrian brought down, Gomez who had raced onto a through ball by Aaron Kovar.

Gomez sent Adrian the wrong way with the spot-kick before Morris added two more in the second half.

With 70 minutes on the clock, Oalex Anderson's shot was blocked only for Morris to slide home the rebound.

And just two minutes later he grabbed his second of the match, when he collected an assist by Joevin Jones before blasting the ball beyond Hammers' reserve keeper Raphael Spiegel from seven yards.

Morris is Seattle's leading scorer in this year's MLS, although the Sounders are currently struggling in their domestic campaign in the Western Conference, sitting 9th in the 10-team table.

West Ham were without their star attraction Dimiti Payet who is part of the France squad currently competing at Euro 2016, while Seattle could not call upon the services of Clint Dempsey.

The former Fulham player is yet to return to MLS action having represented the United States in Copa America.
