West Ham to open talks with Pedro Obiang over new deal

West Ham will open contract talks with Pedro Obiang at the end of the season, according to Sky sources.
The Spanish midfielder joined the Hammers from Serie A side Sampdoria in June 2015 and has just over two years remaining on his current four-year contract.

Reports in the national press have linked Liverpool with a £18m summer move for Obiang, with Jurgen Klopp already expressing his desire to add up to six players to his squad ahead of next season.
Sky sources understand West Ham are keen to reward Obiang for the fine form he has shown this season, with the 24-year-old having become a regular starter under manager Slaven Bilic.
Obiang, who struggled to hold down a regular first-team place last season, has featured 27 times this campaign and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 victory over Southampton in February.
He is likely to start for West Ham against Chelsea at London Stadium on Monday Night Football, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 7pm.
Meanwhile, West Ham are also close to agreeing a deal to give Bilic a new contract at the end of the campaign.
Bilic, who was appointed as Sam Allardyce's successor in June 2015, has 15 months remaining on his present deal.
