West Ham board have '100 per cent faith' in Slaven Bilic

The West Ham board have issued a statement re-asserting that manager Slaven Bilic's job is not in danger.

The statement says Bilic's position is "not under threat" and that the club have "100 per cent faith" in him.

The Hammers appeared to be safe in mid-table earlier this year but have not won in the Premier League since early February and Saturday's 2-1 loss at Hull was their fourth defeat in a row.

And reports emerged last week claiming the Hammers were planning to replace Bilic in the summer and were lining up possible replacements.

However, vice-chairman Karren Brady wrote in The Sun that the claims were without foundation and the club's hierarchy released a statement on Sunday in which Bilic received their full backing.

The statement read: "To end speculation once and for all, the West Ham United Board feel it necessary to announce that we have 100 per cent faith in Slaven Bilic's ability to lead West Ham United.

"Despite press speculation to the contrary, the manager's position is not under threat.

Slaven Bilic says West Ham can’t keep conceding from set-pieces after they lost 2-1 at Hull.

"The Board know that Slaven and his coaching staff have the full backing of the playing squad and the overwhelming majority of supporters to lead West Ham United out of this difficult spell.

"The Board now urge all supporters to unite behind the manager, his staff and the squad as we go into some important games.

"We all have complete confidence in their ability to end a testing run of results and finish the season on a high."

Bilic said after Saturday's defeat: "I can expect more (speculation) of course. But so what? I'm doing my job."

And the Hammers will bid to end their poor run when they travel to the Emirates for a derby with Arsenal on Wednesday night.
