Slaven Bilic still has the backing of his West Ham players, according to Andy Carroll.

Carroll's first appearance of the season coincided with West Ham's first win as Huddersfield were beaten 2-0 at the London Stadium on Monday Night Football.

Bilic admitted afterwards he had been feeling the pressure after three straight Premier League defeats and the club's failure to land top transfer target William Carvalho on Deadline Day.

Carroll said: "It's been tough but the lads are behind the manager. We went out there and fought and we got the two goals.

"It's been a tough road for us but we played our hearts out and got the three points."

Bilic has regularly talked about his frustration over Carroll's injury problems, and Monday's game was the England international's first since he damaged a thigh in April.

"It's nice to be back on the pitch," he said. "It's been a long time over the summer. I've been working hard in training and it's paid off. I'm feeling good.
