West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says goalkeeper Adrian's three-match ban is "too big" after the club lost their appeal over his red card.
Adrian was sent off for a high boot into the chest of Leicester's Jamie Vardy during the West Ham's 2-1 home defeat last Saturday.
Bilic said: "I was hoping that our appeal on Adrian would be positive, but I wasn't expecting it because of the rule.
"The ref decided it was red, but the punishment is too big.
"It was up to the ref. I can't argue. It wasn't out of the blue."
The Croat also said he expects keeper Darren Randolph to play in Saturday's Premier League match against Bournemouth but forward Mauro Zarate will miss out with a hamstring injury.
Bilic also praised new signing Dimitri Payet, who scored his first goal of the season during last week's defeat to Leicester.
He said: "Payet was mine and our first target of the summer and you don't have to be a football genius to see his ability.
"The question mark was would he do it straight away, in a new environment, new coach everything. But he has clicked right away."
Bournemouth travel to West Ham following a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool on Monday night.
Bilic said: "At Anfield, the game was very even for Bournemouth in open play, if you see the quality of the passes, it was Bournemouth for me."
