Slaven Bilic was ruthless in his analysis of West Ham's 4-3 loss against Bournemouth

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic blamed individual errors for his team's 4-3 loss against Bournemouth at Upton Park.

The Croatian manager felt his players gifted striker Callum Wilson a Premier League hat-trick and the Cherries their first win of the season with some calamitous defending.

Aaron Cresswell - last season's Hammer of the Year - was at fault for the first two goals, before Carl Jenkinson gave away a penalty and received a red card for a professional foul on Max Gradel.

From the resulting penalty Wilson added his third, and Bournemouth's fourth, ensuring all three points went to the south-coast.

"It's very hard to explain three of their four goals," lamented the West Ham boss. "There were big individual errors that you can't make at this level.

"I was not shocked, but I was surprised. For the first couple of goals the ball was ours, it was at our feet - you can't make those kind of mistakes in the Premier League.

"They (Bournemouth) pushed us to make the some of the mistakes because they were pressing us - they were sharp, more lively and simply more aggressive, but still we can't make those kind of easy mistakes in front of our goal.

"In the second half we started a bit more aggressive, started to play better, started to get those second balls and we were rewarded with those two goals, but then again we made a couple of individual mistakes and especially with 10 men it's hard to come back."

Despite witnessing his side's self-inflicted collapse, Bilic was optimistic he could steer the ship in the right direction and called on his players to show more heart.

"It's not an alarming situation, but we can't continue to play without more desire. We need to do the very simple things in football - show more aggression, win the second balls and have a better mentality," he said.

"Bottom line we can't start playing in the second half. It's a big work for me, big work for us, but I am going to turn this around and we're going to be good."

Bilic is also hopeful he can strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes. "The situation with the squad is not ideal, but we're trying to be active and hopefully we're going to bring one or two in," he revealed.
