Watford are in talks with Sunderland over a deal to sign goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, according to Sky sources.
The 6'8" Romania international has been first-choice at Sunderland for much of the season but has not played since a 3-1 loss at Chelsea in December.
And the 28-year-old stopper has not even been in the matchday squad for the Black Cats' last three fixtures, having slipped behind Jordan Pickford and Vito Mannone in the pecking order.
Pickford has impressed when given his opportunities, meaning Sunderland may feel they can afford to sell one of their two more experienced number ones.
Pantilimon joined Sunderland in the summer of 2014, having spent three seasons at Manchester City, predominantly as a back-up option behind England keeper Joe Hart.
