WOKING, ENGLAND - JULY 10: Walter Mazzarri, the Watford manager looks on during the pre season friendly match between Woking and Watford at The Laithwaite

We look at how Watford might look to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

What are the areas in need of attention? And what business have they done so far?

We examine the situation with the help of expert views.

Ins

Isaac Success (Granada, £12.5m), Christian Kabasele (Genk, £5.8m), Jerome Sinclair (Liverpool, free), Juan Camilo Zuniga (Napoli, loan)

Major outs

Jose Manuel Jurado (Espanyol, £2.1m), Joel Ekstrand (released), Gabriele Angella (Udinese, undisclosed), Miguel Layun (Porto, undisclosed)

What they need...

Watford have already been busy in the transfer market. Nigerian forward Isaac Success has arrived from Granada for a club-record £12.5m fee, and the Hornets have also signed Belgian defender Christian Kabasele and former Liverpool youngster Jerome Sinclair.

Troy Deeney and Heurelho Gomes have been tied to new contracts, but Walter Mazzarri is likely to bring in more new faces before the window is out. Only relegated Norwich City created fewer chances from open play last season, so they need creative midfielders. They also need more firepower up front, while there are question marks over their defence.

Who are the targets?

Watford are one of a number of Premier League clubs linked with Saido Berahino, who has turned down a new contract at West Brom. They are also said to interested in West Ham striker Diafra Sakho, who has handed in a transfer request at Upton Park

Danny Higginbotham's view

"Troy Deeney signing a new contract is a big thing for them and they will look to build on last season I think. People didn't talk about them much towards the end of the season but they had a great season and tailed off a bit when the work was done so they will want to keep improving.

"There's a new manager in there now as well and he will want to stamp his ideas and I think as time goes by, we will see the players he wants to bring in because he may have other ideas than Quique Sanchez Flores had before him but I think getting Deeney to sign a new contract was a massive thing. It will be interesting to see what the new manager wants and needs."
