Watford have completed the signings of Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra.
Kaboul has joined from Sunderland on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee while Argentina international Pereyra has signed a five-year contract and arrives from Juventus, subject to a work permit.
Kaboul played a key role in Sunderland's survival battle last season, making 23 appearances after moving to Wearside from Tottenham for £3m in 2015.
He told the Watford website: "I'm very happy and delighted to be a part of Watford Football Club, and I'm looking forward to the season.
"Just from outside, I can see it's a family club, there are some good players here and I'm very confident. The club had a very good season last year, and we need to carry that on to be even better."
Speaking earlier on Friday, Sunderland boss David Moyes said he was reluctant to lose the experienced centre-half but did not want to stand in the Frenchman's way after he asked to leave due to personal reasons.
Moyes said: "We got an enquiry from Watford and when we did, Younes also came and saw me and said if this was right, he would like to go back to Watford.
"He wanted to go back - his family home is there and his choice would be to go back - so reluctantly, we agreed to it."
Kaboul made 140 appearances during two spells at Tottenham after leaving Auxerre in 2004, and was club captain at White Hart Lane two seasons ago.
He spent 18 months with Portsmouth in the Premier League, scoring five goals in 51 appearances.
