Wolves manager Kenny Jackett was surprised by owner Steve Morgan's decision to sell the club, but not the way his side comprehensively overcame Fulham.

Molineux was rocked on the eve of the Sky Bet Championship encounter by news of the owner's resignation from the board and plans to sell the club after eight years.

There was no sign of that news disrupting Jackett's side, though, as the West Midlanders capitalised on Tom Cairney's first-half red card to run out 3-0 winners against Fulham.

Half-time introduction Sheyi Ojo's shot squirmed through the grasp of goalkeeper Andy Lonergan after Adam Le Fondre glanced home his curling effort minutes earlier, with James Henry adding gloss to the scoreline with a fine free-kick.

It was only Wolves' third league win of the campaign and ended a four-game winless streak in all competitions, although manager Jackett always felt such a result was coming.

"I felt we've played well in all but sort of most games," he said.

"We haven't really had a complete performance, but the Championship is a good standard with some very, very good clubs.

"You can see from Fulham, where they had a fantastic performance against QPR (winning 4-0) in the last game here and did very, very well."

Jackett was understandably impressed by his players' display in west London as Monday's shock development regarding Morgan made little impact.

"I was surprised when I heard the news, but I respect Steve Morgan and respect any decision that he makes," the Wolves boss said.

"My focus has this week been on a very important week on the pitch, with our game in hand tonight and then a big game on Saturday, at home to Huddersfield on television.

"I did speak today about [Morgan's decision] and asked the players if they had any questions, and they didn't have any."

Fulham were a shadow of the side that so impressively beat QPR in Friday's west London derby, but manager Kit Symons was philosophical on the loss.

"That's sometimes how it goes in football," the Fulham boss said. "When it's not your night, it's not your night. You've got to take it on the chin.

"It is disappointing and hard to take, but it happens sometimes.

"Friday was a great night for us and I could sympathise and had empathy towards what Chris [Ramsey, QPR manager] and what he went through.

"Obviously the sending off changed it massively. It was always going to be hard to play at the levels that we did on Friday night, but we were doing okay in the first half, a bit too open but we were very much in it."

In the build-up to the match, Fulham announced James Husband's loan from Middlesbrough had been extended by an unspecified length and Symons indicated they may dip into the loan market again.

"We are constantly looking," he added. "There's always that temptation."
