Neil Redfearn admits Rotherham are clogged up in a transfer chain in their pursuit of Birmingham's Andrew Shinnie.

The Millers hoped to have brought the midfielder to New York Stadium in time for Saturday's 2-2 draw at Cardiff, but the move was delayed due to ongoing deals further up the chain.

Boss Redfearn hopes to get the loan move completed in the early part of the week but is prepared to be patient.

"It's still ongoing. He's somebody we fancy. These things take time," he said.

"We've got to be patient. We were hoping it would get done before Saturday, but we're not at that stage yet.

"Other clubs are involved. It's not just ourselves in the transaction. Players have got to come and go from a few clubs.

"He's an attacking midfielder with flair and an eye for goals. He would add real competition for places.
