Former Leeds managing director, David Haigh, is expected to return to England this week after a court hearing in Dubai.
Haigh had been convicted of fraud by a Dubai court and he has spent 22 months in prison.
He was acquitted on Monday of abusing a former Leeds owner on social media, and the court's decision paves the way for Haigh to return to the UK.
Haigh's spokesman said: "David is delighted this 22-month nightmare is coming to an end.
"He was tricked into flying to Dubai under the pretext of an offer of a new job. He expects to be reunited with his family in the UK in time for Easter."
