Rotherham captain Lee Frecklington has signed a new two-year contract with the Sky Bet Championship club.

Frecklington, 30, had a year left to run on his current deal but will now stay with the Millers until at least the summer of 2018.

"I'm very pleased and I think it's obvious that I enjoy playing for this football club and to extend it by another couple of seasons is something that I was keen to do and I'm really happy that it's over the line," Frecklington told the club's official website.

"The fans have been brilliant with me since I came here in League Two and it's nice to play for a club where you feel like that and I'm hopeful that I've got another two years at least of playing in front of them again."

Frecklington joined Rotherham from Peterborough for an undisclosed fee in January 2013 following an initial loan spell and has made over 140 appearances in total.
