Brentford have signed Leicester left-back Callum Elder on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old Australian, a graduate of the Foxes' academy, spent the first half of last season on loan at Sky Bet League One side Peterborough.

Brentford head coach Dean Smith told the club's official website: "Callum is an attacking full-back. He comes highly recommended and I believe there is further development in him. He is also a player that can improve the squad now.

"Callum came to my attention when he played for Peterborough against my Walsall team. He did very well that day and I have been watching him ever since, although it was unfortunate he had to cut short that loan spell due to injury. I am pleased to welcome him to Brentford."
