Derby have tabled a £7m bid for Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri, according to Sky sources.
Forestieri was Wednesday's top scorer last season with 15 Championship goals and picked up where he left off with the winner against Aston Villa in the club's weekend opener.
The Italian, 26, was previously at Watford for three seasons, the first of them on loan, and has played in the top divisions in Italy and Spain.
Derby opened their Championship season with a goalless draw against Brighton in Nigel Pearson's first game in charge.
