QPR midfielder Sandro considers his future after making his return from injury

Sandro has revealed his disappointment at missing out on a move to Sporting Lisbon because of a disagreement over the state of his knee.

The QPR midfielder travelled to Lisbon in June to sign for the Portuguese club - only to be told after a medical that he still had a problem with his right knee.

This meant Sporting were willing to pay him only half the wages they had originally discussed despite a medical in London later confirming he was clear to resume his career.

"I had a call to go to Sporting. I wanted to get the deal done while I was in Lisbon because I was getting married soon after in Brazil," Sandro told Sky Sports News HQ.

"They checked my right knee and nothing else. Not my ankles or shoulders, which is unusual. So I left the building and I was in my car later on when my agent called me to ask me what was wrong with my knee.

"I said there was nothing wrong with it and that I was flying. I was looking forward to pre-season and I was ready to go.

"My agent then said Sporting had found something wrong in the medical and that for this reason they wanted to offer me half the salary.

Sandro, 27, has a medical report in which his physician states his "surprise" that the Brazil international would fail a medical.

He started QPR's EFL Cup second round tie against Rochdale on Tuesday and scored both goals as Rangers came from a goal down to win 2-1.

Both Sandro and QPR have agreed it would be best for him to move on. The club want him off the wage bill, while the former Tottenham man still believes he can make an impact in the Premier League.

"There is nothing to stop me getting back to being the player I was," he added.

"I have the proof that I am ready to reach that level again. I have been in and out of the treatment room for a long time.

"But this summer I had my first pre-season in three years and it made a big difference. It was great to be back playing for QPR. All I need is for someone to give me a chance."

Sandro helped Tottenham to a Champions League place in 2010 before starring in Harry Redknapp's side's run to the quarter-finals of the competition a year later.

He injured his right knee playing for Spurs at QPR in January 2013, which left him on the sidelines until the start of 2013/14.

Sandro joined QPR two years ago and has since suffered persistent problems with the knee which has restricted his number of appearances.

He went out on loan to West Brom last January but started just five games.
