Preston duo Paul Huntington and Daniel Johnson have both signed new contracts at Deepdale, the Championship club have confirmed.

Boss Simon Grayson had promised that the money used from the sale of Joe Garner to Rangers would be reinvested in the current squad in terms of sorting out fresh deals and Huntington and Johnson are the first to benefit.

Defender Huntington, 28, will now remain with North End until the summer of 2018 while ex-Aston Villa midfielder Johnson's contract runs for another 12 months.

"I'm delighted. This is my fifth year here now and I've enjoyed each year that I've been here," Huntington said.

"I feel as though we've progressed as a club and as a group. I'm really pleased to have got it done and to concentrate on the football now."

Johnson, who was a £50,000 signing from Villa in January 2015, added: "I've been wanting this to get sorted for a long time now and it's finally sorted. It takes a lot of pressure off me now and I can just concentrate on my football.
