David Wagner insisted the hard work would continue after Huddersfield's 1-0 victory over Wolves kept them top of the Championship.

The Terriers are unbeaten having won four of their first five matches and head coach Wagner said there would be no let-up.

"This has been a very good start to the season but everybody knows how much hard work it was and we will not stop what we did in the past," Wagner said. "Hard work got us where we are and this will help us to be successful. We only look forward now."

Dutch winger Rajiv van la Parra scored the only goal in the sixth minute, finishing into the bottom corner after Nahki Wells hit the post.

Van la Parra, who made the permanent move to Town from Wolves in the summer after initially joining on loan in March, celebrated his first goal for the club and Wagner said: "I am very happy for him.

"He chose the best moment to score his first goal. Everybody knows how difficult it was to get him here on loan last season and he was desperate to come here.

"He played really well throughout the game. In the past maybe his end product was missing but he found it today."

Town needed second-half saves from Wales keeper Danny Ward to protect the lead and Wagner said: "He was outstanding for us. He kept us in the game during a difficult period for us.

"Our first half was outstanding. It was one of the best 45 minutes we have played. We looked very sharp and organised and we were able to create some moments.

"Wolves changed the game plan in the second half and we did not handle it well but in the last 10 or 15 minutes we found a way back, thanks to our supporters."

Wagner said Town only had three players away on international duty and the squad would have a behind-closed-doors friendly at Liverpool's Melwood training ground.

Wolves head coach Walter Zenga said his side were unlucky to lose the game.

"In my opinion we could have won the game easily," he said. "The goal was one mistake and there was one unbelievable save from Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's header.

"Particularly in the second half we had some big chances. The game is 95 minutes and we have to play the whole game."

Zenga said he was satisfied with the start to the season and added: "I am 100 per cent happy with where we are but, yes, we could have had more points and probably deserved more points.

"For the last two away games our keeper has not had a save to make but that is what happens.

"The Championship is a difficult league but not an impossible league and this is a long season with many games left to play.
