Tom Clarke has committed to Preston North End for three more years after signing a new deal at the club.
Preston have recently tied down the futures of Paul Huntington and Daniel Johnson with new contracts, and the Sky Bet Championship side's captain has now followed suit by agreeing a deal to stay at Deepdale until 2019.
The 28-year-old joined from Huddersfield in 2013 and has since gone on to make 123 league appearances for Preston.
"I'm just glad that it's over the line now. I've been in talks for a while so I'm just happy that it's done and now I can concentrate on the football," Clarke told the club's official website.
Preston manager Simon Grayson, who also signed Aiden McGeady on loan for the remainder of the season, believes Clarke can be an example for the younger players in the squad.
"Tom has been here for a few years now and has been a very consistent performer," Grayson said. "He is a whole-hearted player and like other members of the squad we wanted to try and secure him for the long term.
"He is still a willing learner, but he has valuable experience to share with the younger players in the squad, so we are delighted to add to the hard core who are with us for an extended period of time."
