McGreal given Us trial

Colchester have taken veteran centre-back John McGreal on trial.

Colchester boss Geraint Williams views the 35-year-old former Burnley player as a potential replacement for Wayne Brown, who joined Hull at the end of the season.

McGreal played for the first 56 minutes of Colchester's friendly defeat to Gillingham at Priestfield on Tuesday night.

The Us lost the game 4-2 - the side's first defeat of the pre-season campaign.
