Doncaster Rovers assistant manager Richard O'Kelly has revealed the club have outlined potential replacements should Mathew Mills and Brian Stock depart the club.
The in-demand duo won many admirers during Rovers' debut season in the Championship, being instrumental in their 14th-place finish last term.
Their form has prompted interest from Premier League club Birmingham and fellow Championship survivors Nottingham Forest, who have each had a bid turned down.
O'Kelly insisted he does not expect the pair to leave, but they have nonetheless identified possible replacements should they lose their star assets.
"We have got a list of players scribbled down, which we've done our homework on, just in case something does go wrong, but that happens all the time, not just over the summer," O'Kelly told skysports.com.
"Ideally, those targets will be available should we need to find a replacement, but our main aim is to get everyone back in for pre-season training hungry and ready to improve on last season's success.
"If that doesn't happen then I'm sure we will cope and hopefully we will have the final say on who stays and who goes this summer.
"Our success last season was based largely upon the emphasis on playing as a team, rather than individuals grabbing the limelight.
"The majority of our squad hadn't played at Championship level before last season and yet did remarkably well, so there are bound to be a number of our players being looked at by other supposedly bigger clubs.
"Whatever happens though we will have to just deal with."
