Birmingham City's directors will meet with manager Steve Cotterill on Saturday night to discuss a deal to terminate his contract, Sky Sports News understands.
Saturday afternoon's 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest was Birmingham's fifth straight defeat in the league and leaves the club two points adrift of safety in the Championship.
A number of Chinese directors from Birmingham's owners, Trillion Trophy Asia, flew to England earlier this week because of concerns over the club's league position.
The most senior of those - Wenqing Zhao, who is also chairman of Birmingham City's parent company, Birmingham International Holdings - will discuss an exit deal for Cotterill, who still has two years left on the contract he signed only five months ago.
Cotterill has won just six league games out of 24 since replacing Harry Redknapp as manager in September and the Blues are the lowest scoring side in the Championship, having netted only 23 goals in 35 matches this season.
Speaking ahead of the Nottingham Forest defeat, Cotterill claimed he had the support of his chairman.
"I know there has been a lot of talk about decision days, Wednesday, Thursday, but I met the chairman on Monday night and had a very, very positive meeting with him. He was incredibly supportive," Cotterill told Birmingham's website.
"It's incredibly positive moving forwards and I can't thank him enough for how he was when he came over.
"Without opening up about that too much he's definitely got a clearer picture about what's gone on and a little bit where we are."
