Birmingham City Ladies have completed the signing of Alex Windell from FA Women’s Super League 1 rivals Bristol Academy.
The 24-year-old, who is the sixth player to leave Bristol during the close season, did not play last term after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament during pre-season.
Midfielder Windell featured in 19 matches for Bristol the previous year.
Birmingham manager David Parker said: “Alex is a player that has been monitored for some time and once the opportunity became available to bring her to the football club there was no hesitation.
“As always, there is more to a player than just what they can do on the pitch, their off the field mentality and overall persona of fitting into our group is a key aspect in our recruitment policy.
“Doing our research and meeting Alex we knew it was the right fit for us. Alex will add even more quality to an already strong midfield unit at the club and given her versatility, Alex will be able to add another dimension to our squad.
“I am delighted to bring Alex to the club and it is exactly what we need to push us onto another level with her tenacity and technical ability.”
