Patrick van Aanholt has signed a new contract tying him to Sunderland until the summer of 2020.

The Dutch left-back had two years to run on the deal he signed on arrival from Chelsea back in 2014, since when he has made 69 appearances.

Van Aanholt scored four times last season following Sam Allardyce's appointment as boss and was a regular in the side that escaped relegation.
