Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair out for 2-3 weeks with groin injury

Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair faces up to three weeks out of action after suffering a groin injury at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The Northern Ireland international was forced off after 41 minutes of the weekend's dramatic 3-3 draw against Middlesbrough.

McNair has had a number of niggling injuries this season after recovering from rupturing the cruciate ligament in his knee in November 2016.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman said: "Paddy has that physicality in midfield - he has energy and he's a very good player - so to lose him, especially in the Championship where that type of player can change your life, is a blow."
