Rams spring McIndoe surprise

Derby have signed Doncaster winger Michael McIndoe on loan for the season.

Derby have signed highly-rated Doncaster winger Michael McIndoe on loan for the remainder of the season.

The capture of the 26-year-old represents something of a coup for manager Terry Westley with McIndoe having been earmarked as a player of considerable potential.

Rovers manager Dave Penney will be disappointed to lose the former Yeovil man but McIndoe's attention will now turn to The Rams' match with Burnley on Saturday when he is expected to make his Championship debut.

McIndoe, who has scored 13 goals in 41 appearances for Rovers this season, has played a large part in the recent upturn in Donny's fortunes and starred in the club's Carling Cup run which accounted for Manchester City and Aston Villa.

The Edinburgh-born player started his career at Luton and Hereford but it was not until a move to Huish Park in 2001 that McIndoe began to make a name for himself.

Despite leaving Yeovil under something of a cloud, McIndoe has developed at Donny and will now hope to make the most of an opportunity to impress at Pride Park.
