Spireites double swoop

Chesterfield have signed both Paul Boertien and Nicky Rizzo on loan.

Chesterfield have completed two deadline day deals with Paul Boertien and Nicky Rizzo both moving to Saltergate on loan.

The left-sided duo will spend the rest of the season with the League One club as manager Lee Richardson attempts to steer his side out of the relegation zone.

Winger Rizzo moves from MK Dons having seen a similar loan spell at Grimsby cut short by injury in January.

Chesterfield have also recruited defender Boertien from Derby County where he has spent the last eight years of his career.

Richardson was delighted to add the two players to his squad to beat the Football League's loan deadline.

"I have made lots of phone calls, especially since Spurs loanee Charlie Daniels was injured last weekend, so I am pleased we have eventually found two experienced left-sided players who will bring new options into the squad," Richardson told the club's official website.

Chesterfield have also confirmed that defender James Meredith will be returning to Derby after completing a one-month loan spell.
