Derby County have signed Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell at Pride Park.

Shotton, who joins the Rams for an undisclosed fee, originally signed for Steve McClaren's side in August and he has now put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 26-year-old has made 14 appearances this season, scoring twice, and McClaren is delighted to have secured the services of the versatile defender longer term.

He said: "We’re pleased to welcome Ryan Shotton to the club on a permanent basis.
