Derby defender Raul Albentosa is poised to join Malaga on loan.
Albentosa, 26, only arrived at Derby in January, but failed to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up last season and was restricted to nine appearances.
Derby said in a statement on the club's official website: "Derby County wishes to confirm that defender Raul Albentosa is in talks with Spanish top flight side Malaga CF over a potential loan move.
"Albentosa is absent from today's matchday squad for the pre-season friendly at Northampton Town as talks continue between Derby, Malaga and Albentosa."
Derby paid La Liga side Eibar an undisclosed fee to sign Albentosa.
