Preston have announced the signing of Everton defender Tyias Browning on loan until the end of the season.

Browning made six appearances for the Toffees last season under former boss Roberto Martinez before undergoing knee surgery in December 2015 which sidelined him for almost a year.

The 22-year-old returned to action with Everton's under 23 side and is now looking forward to playing regular first-team football at Deepdale.

He told the club's official website: "I am happy to get playing again; it has been a long time, so I am hopeful I can come in and make an impact.

"I know a couple of lads and I have heard nothing but good things about the club, and hopefully I can come in and do well.

"I just want to make an impact and help the team push forward. I'm a physical defender and I know the Championship is a physical league, and hopefully it suits me well."
