Alex Neil has been interviewed for the vacant manager's job at Preston, according to Sky sources.
We understand he met with club officials on Monday and is believed to be one of a number of candidates to be interviewed.
Preston do not expect to complete the interview process until midweek.
Neil was appointed as Norwich boss in January 2015 after leaving Hamilton and guided the Canaries to the Premier League at the first time of asking via the Championship play-off final after they beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at Wembley.
However, they were relegated straight back to the Championship after just one season and struggled for consistency last term. The Scot was sacked as Norwich manager in March with the Carrow Road side nine points off the play-off places.
Preston are looking for a new manager after Simon Grayson left the club to take over at Sunderland.
